Anatomy
Hui Yin (会阴), meaning “Meeting of Yin,” is the acupoint CV-1 located at the perineum. It is the lowest point of the Conception Vessel (Ren Mai).
Role in Tai Chi
While Bai Hui lifts upward, Hui Yin anchors downward. Together they create the vertical axis of the body — the central equilibrium (Zhong Ding). The practitioner gently lifts the crown while relaxing and settling the perineum, creating length in the spine.
This upper-lower connection is fundamental to:
- Rooting (扎根)
- Central Equilibrium (中定)
- Fa Jin (发劲) — power generation from the ground up
