Welcome Alex! I have taught many students who started in their 50s and 60s. My best advice is: go slow and focus on the Wuji stance first. Spend your first month just standing — it sounds boring but it will save you years of correcting bad habits.

Great advice. I will add: do not worry about getting it right immediately. Tai Chi is a practice, not a performance. The health benefits come from consistent, mindful practice. Consider starting with Tai Chi Walking — it is lower impact and builds the fundamentals naturally.

Another thing: listen to your body. If something hurts, adjust. The philosophy of Song is especially important as we get older — we tend to hold tension without realizing it. The biggest lesson is learning to distinguish between working and forcing.
